Windows Embedded POSReady 6 (Codename Vienna) was a specialized operating system developed by Microsoft, released on April 29th, 2007. Designed specifically for Point of Sale (POS) systems in the retail sector, this platform was based on Windows Vista (2007), but despite Vista's performance issues at the time, POSReady 6 was very stable. it provides a reliable and secure platform for managing transactions, inventory, and customer interactions in retail environments like stores and supermarkets. POSReady 6 is compatibility with a wide range of POS hardware devices such as barcode scanners and receipt printers. After the release of Embedded POSReady 2009, POSReady 6 dropped in popularity since most stores switched to the new version. This OS received the final update on July 2nd, 2011, after the release of Embedded POSReady 7, and the support ended 3 months later on October 2nd, 2011.
